3 people reportedly arrested for the murder of Emmanuel Sithole

South African police claim they've arrested 3 of the men who attacked Mozambican man Emmanuel Sithole on the streets of Alexandra on Saturday April 18th. He later died in hospital

“The suspects were arrested in Alexandra (on Sunday evening) with help from the members of the community. Several exhibits that may be used as evidence were seized during the arrests” Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said.

This boy you see above wasn’t born like this, but a sudden sickness crawled in when he was 

three and changed his life. The virus ate him so bad that his neck muscles couldn’t hold 

his neck again leaving it to fall right, left and front freely. His story below…

A family is appealing for urgent medical help for their son who suffers from a mega-rare condition

which has left him with a twisted neck and a 'wasted' body. Mahendra Ahirwar, 12, 

from a village in India's Madhya Pradesh state ,suffers from a mystery muscle-wasting disease, 

which has left him too frail to support his own body parts.

The boy's extensor neck muscles are unable to hold his head in place, meaning it constantly falls onto his right shoulder or his chest. In addition, his limbs have lost almost all muscle tissue, leaving him weighing just two-and-a-half stone.

Mahendra's parents say he was born a healthy baby, but within three years of his birth he 

developed the condition. They have been battling the condition for 9 years now, 

and no specialist has been able to help. His mom wonders if it is only death that can 

deliver him from this.

World’s first head transplant volunteer could experience something "worse than death” - Surgeon

Last week, 30-year-old Russian man, Valery Spiridonov, announced that he will become the subject of the first human head transplant ever performed. Val, who's paralyzed from waist down, says he wants his head removed from his non-functioning body and installed on another person’s able body.

He volunteered himself as a guinea pic after Italian surgeon Sergio Canavero said head transplant was possible and outlined the transplant technique he intends to follow. But now a top surgeon said Val will experience a death worse than death is he goes ahead with this...

"A Werdnig-Hoffman disease sufferer with rapidly declining health, Spiridonov is willing to take a punt on this very experimental surgery and you can't really blame him, but while he is prepared for the possibility that the body will reject his head and he will die, his fate could be considerably worse than death.”

"I would not wish this on anyone," said Dr Hunt Batjer, president elect of the American Association for Neurological Surgeons. "I would not allow anyone to do it to me as there are a lot of things worse than death."

Even if the transplant succeeds which is unlikely, several medical experts say the world does not even know it will do to Val's mind.

"There’s no telling what the transplant - and all the new connections and foreign chemicals that his head and brain will have to suddenly deal with - will do to Spiridonov’s psyche. It could result in a hitherto never experienced level and quality of insanity". - the surgeon said
