Nurse breastfeeds infant during surgery to calm her down

A nurse has gone above and beyond her duty when she breast-fed a one-month-old patient during a surgery this week in Guangdong, southern China. The baby girl, named as Wei Wei, was in the middle of a surgery on September 29 when she started crying and wouldn't stop, reported People's Daily Online.

Li Baoxia, who was still lactating, decided to step in and breastfeed the infant patient, who then calmed down so the surgery could continue.

Surgery continued successfully while the nurse breastfed Wei Wei.

According to reports, the baby was undergoing a surgery for an anal abscess when she started crying and couldn't stop.

Due to the baby's age and size, only local anaesthesia was used, which meant the baby could still move.

Li Baoxia had just finished a surgery in a neighbouring operating theatre when she heard about the baby's condition from a colleague.

Without hesitation, the nurse stepped in and breastfed the baby to calm her down.

She then continued to breastfeed and hold the baby while the surgery continued.

The heart-warming scene was captured by a member of the medical staff and shared online.

After the successful surgery, Wei Wei's father was extremely grateful towards the doctor.

He held her hand as he said: 'Thank you! You not only cured my child but also breastfed her. As a father, I cannot thank you enough.'

The father then exclaimed, 'You're an angel nurse.'

That sentiment was echoed by many Chinese web users since the photograph emerged on social media such as Weibo, China's equivalent of Twitter.

However, many also questioned whether the nurse had the right to breastfeed someone else's baby.

It is not clear where the baby's mother was or whether the nurse had permission from the family before she stepped in to help.

The surgery was successful and the baby is recovering well.

Mums fight back against controversial advice that kissing kids on the lips is 'too sexual' with pics of themselves with their kids

A few weeks ago, a child psychologist from Californian university UCLA, Dr Charlotte Reznick, said kissing children on the lips was too 'sexual' and asked parents to stop it as it is confusing for young children. Australian mothers have slammed the claim, saying 'it's perfectly natural and loving.' They further protested by sharing photos online of them kissing their children on the lips. See more photos after the cut..

Dr Reznick's  comments were originally sparked by an old photo of Hollywood actor Harry Connick Jr kissing his then eight-year-old daughter on the lips.

Photo: 14yr old Junior Olympian dies after brain-eating bug entered his nose while swimming

Amoeba entered 14-year-old Michael Riley's nose while swimming in a lake north of Houston with his cross country team on August 13, AP reports. Michael Riley Jr.’s family says he developed a headache and became disoriented after the swimming. He was taken to the hospital where he was diagnosed with Primary Amebic Meningoencephalitis (men-ingo-in-Sephalite-us).

The amoeba entered his nasal passages and made its way into his brain. Riley’s cousin Jennifer Hohman said in a statement that he was taken to Texas Children’s Hospital and placed in a medically induced coma until tests proved he had lost all brain function and couldn’t breathe without support. The hospital disconnected the ventilator Sunday. Hohman confirmed that he died.

Michael competed in the Junior Olympics three times and was due to start high school this year.

Tutenkhamun's eggplant was erect when he was mummified so he would look like a god

The world's most famous mummy, Tutenkhamun, was buried with his penis standing at a 90 degree angle. Now experts believe that his everlasting erection was made to make King Tut look like Osiris, the god of the afterlife.

According to Egyptologist Salima Ikram, professor at the American University in Cairo, it was to counter efforts by his father King Akjenaten to establish a religion of one god.

King Tut had, however, worked to reverse his father's ideology and return Egypt to the traditional worshipping of several gods.

Professor Ikram believes he was buried with his erect manhood in a bit to continue his endeavour even in death. The upright penis actually broke off after the discovery of the tomb, amid speculation it was stolen.

Shell oil workers 'are fired after video of them having sex is found by man's angry wife

Two oil workers have been sacked after a video of them having sex in a hotel room was shared online. Lee Hanlon, 32, and Amy Maxwell, 33, who are both married and met while working for Shell, recorded their illicit encounter on his mobile phone.

The film was discovered by Mr Hanlon’s wife Charon, who sent it to all his contacts including friends, workmates and bosses in an act of revenge. But the footage then ‘spread like wildfire’ as more people passed it on in messages and emails.

It is understood police are investigating the distribution of the video as well as allegations that Mrs Hanlon, 37, vandalised her husband’s car after discovering his affair. A police spokesman said: ‘Inquiries are at an early stage.’

Mr Hanlon, a former project engineer for Shell, is believed to have met Mrs Maxwell six months ago at the oil firm’s decommissioning plant in Aberdeen. They agreed to meet at a Premier Inn hotel earlier this month and filmed their night together.

Mrs Hanlon is understood to have found three clips a few days later when she used her husband’s phone to take a photo at a friend’s wedding.

Afterwards, she set up a group on messaging app WhatsApp and, posing as her husband, shared the footage with all of the contacts listed on his phone. She wrote: ‘Been caught cheating on wife and 8 month old baby with s*** from Shell. Anyone else up for it?’
The three clips then went viral online. Mrs Hanlon also allegedly scratched ‘cheating b******’ into the paintwork of her husband’s Audi.
But it is understood the couple, who have a young son, are still together. There was no answer at their three-bedroom £300,000 home in Westhill, near Aberdeen, yesterday.
Mrs Maxwell refused to comment last night. But she told The Sun on Sunday that Mrs Hanlon’s decision to share the video had ruined her life. ‘I don’t know how to describe all this,’ she said.
‘Everybody has seen the videos. It has ruined lives. It wasn’t an affair, it was a one-off. It was only on his phone for two days before his wife found it.’

Mrs Maxwell said she was still with her husband but that they were planning to move away from the area. Their £465,000 home in Banchory, Aberdeenshire – where they moved last April – is now for sale. Mrs Maxwell added: ‘So many people have been in touch to tell me about the video.

‘Everyone has seen the clips – apart from my husband. But he knows about them, obviously.
‘We’re still together. We were always planning to move away but this has speeded things up a bit. I’m not looking for a job just now. I decided to take some time off. I’ve had sympathy from everyone. I’ve no idea what their relationship [Mr and Mrs Hanlon’s] was like but she was obviously searching through his phone. You don’t do that without a reason.’

An oil worker told The Sun on Sunday: ‘The couple’s videos are the talk of the town – they spread like wildfire. I don’t know anyone who has not seen them. ‘
Mr and Mrs Hanlon married at a boutique hotel in South Queensferry, near Edinburgh, in November 2013.
A video of the couple’s wedding day posted online shows them posing for photographs and laughing with friends and family.
A spokesman for Shell said Mr Hanlon and Mrs Maxwell were not directly employed by the company, but were contractors hired through an agency.

She said they had since been ‘redeployed’ by the agency.

Outrage as mom who forgot her 4 month old son in a grocery store is charged

Cherish Peterson, a mother of four young kids, said she was horrified to realize she drove off from a grocery store in Arizona last week without her two-month-old son and since then, there's been a roller coaster reaction on social media.
The incident happened in the Phoenix suburb of Gilbert, on a day when the high temperature was 104 degrees. Peterson returned to the grocery store to look for her baby after about 40 minutes. She didn't notice he was missing until she had driven all the way home.

"As I was pulling into the garage, my 3-year-old-goes, 'Where is baby Huxton?' I turned around and looked and realized he was gone," Peterson said.
She said she was distracted by two of her other kids and forgot her son, who was still in the cart.

"Normally, I put my cart away, but I didn't need to because I parked at the front of the store, and I never park there. And I drove away," Peterson said.
An off-duty police officer found the infant and took him inside a nearby Supercuts.
Huxton was checked out at a hospital before being returned to his parents.
"I'm a good mom who made a horrible mistake," she said. Police believed it was an accident, but the internet was not as forgiving.
People questioned the 28-year-old mom's parenting skills and wondered if alcohol or drugs were involved. There were also comparisons to the treatment of Shanesha Taylor, an unemployed Phoenix mother who in May was sentenced to 18 years probation for leaving her two sons inside her SUV during a job interview.
"People went crazy thinking that I should have my child taken out of my home and they should have never given me my baby back and I should be in prison right now," Peterson said. "Nothing they can say can make me feel worse than I did in that moment I turned around and saw my car seat missing."

The next day, police said they would recommend a misdemeanor charge of child endangerment against Peterson, which sparked another backlash.

The hashtag #IStandWithCherish trended on US Twitter and more than 16,000 people joined a Facebook group to support her.
"There is nothing I love more in this world than being a mom, and there is no one in this world that can love my kids more than me," Peterson said. "But you know what? I count my blessings because my baby was OK."

Peterson's husband said they are grateful to the off-duty police officer and first responders who took good care of their son, but he also believes public pressure forced the police department's hand.

The prosecutor will now decide whether to move forward with the misdemeanor charge against Peterson.
Peterson's husband Nathan Peterson rushed to his wife's defense.
''I married the best, in terms of the mother and wife Cherish is to me and our children,' he said.
'A mistake was made, and we learned, but we're not perfect. We're not perfect. But we love our family and we love our children and we are grateful that everything is okay.'
'It's hard when you can't shield your beloved wife and family from hateful and judgmental things,' he added.

Cherish has since been charged with a misdemeanor charge of child endangerment to the town prosecutor by Gilbert Police Dept.

Teenage girl accused of pressuring boyfriend to commit suicide

A teenager accused of manslaughter sent text messages which appear to prove she pressured her boyfriend to commit suicide, it has been reported.
Prosecutors say Michelle Carter, 18, knew she could go to jail if police found her messages on Conrad Roy III's phone.
She is also accused of asking him to delete the texts from his phone, which were later found by investigators.
Carter, who was 17 at the time, allegedly texted a pal after her boyfriend's death saying: “(If the police) read my messages with him I’m done. His family will hate me and I can go to jail."

The teenager is charged with first-degree involuntary manslaughter over Roy's suicide in a supermarket car-park in Fairhaven, Massachusetts in July last year.

According to prosecutors, Carter pressured her boyfriend to go through with suicide for almost a week before he carried out the act, the Washington Post reported.
She is believed to have counselled him to overcome his fears, researched methods of committing suicide painlessly and lied to police, his family and her friends about his whereabouts.
Carter also very publicly mourned Roy's death on Facebook and Twitter, just three days before she was indicted.

Authorities accuse her of being a wolf in sheep’s clothing despite frequently speaking of her “love” for Conrad online.

In a police report obtained by local newspaper the Sun Chronicle, a detective said at the time: "Not only did Conrad tell Carter in several of his texts prior to his death that he was scared and didn't want to leave his family, she continued to encourage him to take his own life, and when he actually started to carry out the act, he got scared again and exited his truck, but instead of telling him to stay out of the truck ... Carter told him to 'get back in.”

Carter, who organised a charity softball tournament in Conrad’s memory, tweeted that the fund-raiser, called Homers for Conrad, pulled in more than $2,300 for mental health awareness.
"Life can be tough, but helping others makes it easier," she allegedly wrote under the account @michyc47.

Carter's lawyer argues that the charges should be dropped because her messages are protected by free speech.
According to attorney Joseph P. Cataldo, Carter was “brainwashed” into supporting Roy’s plan for suicide.
He was quoted as telling reporters: “He ultimately persuaded a young, impressionable girl. Eventually he gets her to endorse his plan.”

Texas teen drowned toddler in pond to make room for pregnant girlfriend’s unborn child

Police say an east Texas teen has confessed to drowning his pregnant girlfriend's 3-year-old nephew by pushing him into a pond to make room for their unborn child.
Authorities say the toddler trusted Bobby Woods Jr., 17, enough to follow him to the water's edge on Aug. 17 as he played outside their families' shared Lufkin home.
Once there, Woods, knowing the boy couldn't swim, said he pushed Mason Cuttler into the water before turning his back as the floundering boy screamed for help, the Angelina County Sheriff's Office said.
Woods later helped search for the child whose body was found in the private pond a day later.

Mason's parents released a statement Friday, thanking local authorities and volunteers for assisting them "in our time of loss."
"We especially thank the Angelina County Sheriff's Office for their pursuit of justice for mason. At this time, we ask for your prayers for our family. We need time to grieve and try to heal. We are remembering our kind-hearted angel and those memories with support from our loved ones will get us through this," they stated.
Woods, who is described as a member of one of three families living at the home, was booked Friday on a charge of capital murder of a person under age 6.
Mason's online obituary describes him as a "happy child."

"He loved Mickey Mouse and Thomas the Train. He enjoyed playing on the family tractor, helping mow on the lawn mower, and riding the 4-wheeler," it reads.

Kanye West apologizes for being disrespectful to Taylor Swift and announces his run for Presidency in 2020

Kanye West was honored in a big way during Sunday night's MTV Video Music Awards by receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, an accolade previously awarded to superstars like BeyoncĂ©, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Madonna and The Beatles throughout the show's more than 20-year tenure.
He accepted the prestigious award but not without a 13minute acceptance speech that blew any previous Kanye moments way out of the water.
West
Prior to Yeezy taking the stage, Taylor Swift  talked about the infamous 2009 VMAs Best Female Video debacle that pinned the two hit makers against each other for years to follow.

Taylor said any feud between the two was laid to rest long ago, admitting that Kanye's 2004 CollegeDropout was the first album she bought on iTunes.
"I'm really happy for you and Imma let you finish but Kanye has had one of the greatest careers of all time," Swift playfully joked as the honoree prepared to deliver his speech.
As the crowd chanted his name, West looked visibly overwhelmed before recanting his numerous regrets surrounding the career-polarizing move.
"If I had to do it all over again, what would I have done? Would I have worn a leather shirt? Would I have drank half a bottle of Hennessy and gave the rest of it to the audience...? If I had a daughter at that time would I have gone on stage and grabbed the mic from someone else's?" he asked.
West also acknowledged the backlash he has felt throughout his outspoken career: "The contradiction is, I do fight for artists, but in that fight I somehow was disrespectful to artists. I didn't know how to say the right thing, the perfect thing," adding, "Sometimes I feel like I died for the artists' opinion, for the artist to be able to have an opinion after they were successful."
And to top it all off, looks like the US might be looking "West" for the 2020 presidential election. Yes, that's right. Kanye announced he's running for president.
Kanye West announced he was running for president in 2020 during the MTV VMAs on Sunday.

The bold declaration came at the end of an epic acceptance speech for a lifetime achievement award.
